Gasparilla

For those of you that do not know about Gasparilla, check out this link....

Tim Addie and I tried to go to the Children's parade and firework "Pirate Invasion" this Saturday, but we got the whole way down town, finally found some parking, paid $10 to park in someone's yard, made our way the 8 blocks or so to the parade route, and then were informed by a TPD Officer that the parade was canceled, along with the fireworks due to bad weather approaching. Well it may have been canceled, but there were about a dozen floats that were sent out before it was canceled, so at least we saw a few... This event is known for throwing beads to the crowd... much like Mardi-Grass, but kids do not have to do anything for the beads of course... Well we were at the end of the parade route so that we could actually see the floats go by, but that close to the end, they were not allowed to throw beads... but this little boy in the parade, about 12 years old, came walking over to Addison and gave her a nice handful of beads. He was so sweet! (These beads are now Addison's favorite thing, and it is extremely hard to take them from her. The other thing is that they are not the safest thing for a 1-yeqar-old to play with so she can only have them when we are right there with her watching...) It was fun anyway. We'll go again next year!
